TrueDepth & ARKit API Usage

‘Hollywood In The Neighborhood’ uses the device’s TrueDepth camera system & ARKit to track the movement of the user’s face. This allows for a unique user experience — an Augmented Reality (AR) experience in which users can try on different famous hats virtually. In order for this functionality to be possible, the app requires access to your device’s camera. This access can be toggled on or off at any time in your device’s settings.

Camera access is required to get depth data from Apple’s API’s. The camera images and resulting depth data are used for the Augmented Reality Experience.

Users can optionally opt-in to have their photo taken during the AR experience. If a user does decide to use this feature, they may provide their name and email address and a screenshot of the application will be captured including the current frame of the camera feed composed with a hat augmentation. This screenshot, the user’s name and email address they provided, and the X,Y position of the hat on screen will be uploaded using SSL to a secure server in order to generate a customized email to the user containing their photo, cropped appropriately to their face using the X,Y position of the hat.
The uploaded image is saved to the server and is embedded into the email. Once the email is successfully sent to Amazon SES the message and user data is marked for deletion. This deletion period is 3 days after upload. Additionally, all user email addresses, name and other options are automatically marked for deletion after 3 days from the database.

All log files are deleted after 5 days.

The server is located on Amazon AWS and is following best modern security practices.
Camera data is uploaded with cropped coordinates to fit the person and hat into the frame. Once emailed this data is removed from the server after 3 days. Note that camera metadata is not used.
Data will be sent to Amazon AWS (EC2/SES) for sending the emails. Email addresses will not be shared with third parties.

Google Analytics is used to collect generic information based on your interaction with the installation, but does not include any personal, camera, or TrueDepth data.
